“The Pub Deal” Songwriting News!
12/12 Updated! Didn’t make the Top 5, but totally jazzed to be included!
I’m beyond happy to say that I made the Top 25 Finalist list for “The Pub Deal” songwriter’s contest. The winner receives $20,000, a year-long publishing deal, and a Martin guitar. Thank you American Songwriter Magazine, Martin Guitar, and Songspace.com for offering this “first of its kind” contest. I’m humbled simply to be on the list–though I’d LOVE to make the Top 5 and have another good excuse to go to Nashville, co-write, and blather all over the place about how much I love songwriting! I’m not holding my breath, but it’s fun to consider.
Nashville songwriters are a collaborative, relational, and generally happy lot and I like being and working with them. Hopefully, the door will creak open a little farther, but no matter the result, it’s nice to see a sign along the road telling you you’re heading in the right direction.
So, thank you to any of you for hosting me over the years at: coffee houses, churches, county prison, special events, festivals, house concerts, and more. I’m pretty certain I’m a better writer than singer. LOL!
The best advice I ever got? “Keep writing…” Truth.
Visit American Songwriter magazine online to see the list and click through to listen to some fresh, new songwriting faces and voices. I’m humbled to be in the group!
